The aims of S3 Geography are to develop the skills and knowlege to prepare pupils for the senior phase. 

Pupils will study two key areas: physical environments and human environments. 

The Physical Environments topic focuses on Rivers, by the end of this unit pupils will be able to:

- describe the processes involved in the formation of river features. 

- explain the formation of some river features

- idenitfy land use and use grid references on an ordnance survey map. 

The Human Environments topic focuses on Population and Development, by the end of this unit pupils will be able to:

- explain the factors which affect birth rates and death rates, and discuss how changes in these impact on total population. 

- decribe a variety of ways that development is measured. 

- suggest ways that the gap in development could be managed.
