Physics is taught by Mr. Drummond.

Mr. Drummond has a BSc.(Hons) in Mathematics from Edinburgh University.  He has taught Maths in Rayleigh (Essex) and then both Physics and Maths at Hawick High School.  After 21 years at Hawick he moved to Langholm in 2021.

He has been a Principal Teacher in Physics, worked with teachers from across the Scottish Borders and has marked Physics at all levels for the SQA.

What is Physics?

Physics is the study of how things work! We study everything from the inside of an atom to the birth of the Universe, trying to find the patterns and links between all the different things we can measure.  It is the reason why planes fly, televisions operate, our mobile phones can send information and planets obrit stars.  Using Physics can allow us to create new technologies, develop new methods of communication and explore the Solar System

Our Courses

Physics is taught as part of an integrated S1 course and in discrete Sciences in S2 and S3. Please click on the induvidual tabs to get more information. At senior level we offer National 4, 5  and 6 (Higher). Advanced Higher is possible, but is studied within the Higher class supported by Mr Drummond.
