Higher Physics

The Higher Physics course allows candidates to understand and investigate the world in an engaging and enjoyable way. It develops the candidate's ability to think analytically, creatively and independantly and allows them to make reasoned evalulations.

The course is taught in 3 units

  • Our Dynamic Universe
  • Particles and Waves
  • Electricity

All pupils who are enrolled on the Higher Physics course at Langholm Academy are also enrolled on on the online scholar course written by Herriot Watt university.

All pupils have their user name and password. If they forget they can get this from their class teacher. In the event of school closure (COVID, Lockdown, adverse weather etc) it is asked that all pupils immediately switch to the online course and will be guided my their class teacher through teams.

For home study, Mr. Drummond recommends spending at least two hours each week reviewing notes, trying practice questions, creating summaries and completing past papers.  Formal homeworks will also form part of this study.  Some useful documents can be found below.
