In S1 and S2 pupils will experience Geography, History and Modern Studies as part of a Combined Social Subjects Course.

The course is delivered by Mrs Archibald and Ms Neil.

Geography topics will cover map reading skills, as well as aspects of environmental, human and physical geography. Students will be introduced to the writing and map skills that are essential to the subject.

History topics will cover aspects of World and Scottish History. Pupils will also be introduced to foundation History skills looking at source types, offering their opinion and placing sources in context. Debate and discussion is encouraged throughout.

Modern Studies topics will cover aspects of political, social and economic issues within the UK and Scotland as well as with an international focus. Students will be introduced to the writing skills and source analysis that are essential to the subject. Debate and discussion are also essential to success within Modern Studies
