Langholm Academy is delighted to hold Silver Charter status which was awarded by LGBT Youth Scotland in July 2024.
This award recognises the hard work of pupils and staff who have worked together to ensure that Langholm Academy is a safe and inclusive place for LGBT+ pupils, parents and staff.
Langholm Academy is committed to promoting a positive and diverse culture in which all people are valued and supported to fulfil their potential irrespective of their age, disability, race, religion or belief, gender-reassignment, sex or sexual orientation.
LGBT Youth Scotland - Support for Young People
LGBT Youth Scotland offer a wide range of groups, activities and events for lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender young people and their friends.
Dumfries & Galloway Youth Groups:
-Phoenix (13-17 years) Tuesday 6.00 to 8.00pm
-Digital Activists (13-25 years) Wednesday 6.00 to 8.00pm
-Up’n’Oot (18 -25 years) Thursday 7.00 to 9.00pm
-Spectrum (13-25 years) first Saturday of the month 1.00 to 2.00pm
1:1 support:
-The LiveChat feature of the website is a fantastic way for LGBT young people to chat with trained youth workers in real time about what’s on their mind. This is a private place designed for them to comfortably chat with an online youth worker. Information with dates and times can

-1:1 support with D&G youth workers. They are also offering 1:1 support via phone, text or messenger with local youth workers. Get in touch via info@lgbtyouth.org.uk
Langholm Academy - LGBTQI+ Allies Group
This group will meet once a month in the Library and will offer support on a drop in basis for anyone seeking help, advice or chat relating to any concerns or issues. Senior pupils will be based in the library with kindness, empathy and support at the ready.
This support will be available once a month on a Thursday 1.15-1.40pm.
