Welcome to the Langholm Academy Computer Science Department

Computer Science and ICT are rapidly developing areas of the curriculum, which is becoming an increasingly vital aspect of your child’s education.

It is estimated that the top 10 highest paid jobs in the year 2025, have not yet been invented. It is with this in mind, that we have structured a curriculum of Computer Science that not only develops cutting edge skills in computer programming and computer architecture, but allows our pupils to develop their learning skills so that they become effective problem solvers who work independently with resilience and enthusiasm to creatively overcome all challenges whilst allowing pupils to develop their abilities and understanding of Computer Science.

This involves scientific aspects of computing; programming applications, controlling events and environments, learning about the CPU and how data is processed; through to having the ability to use common software packages effectively, such as spreadsheets and databases.
